Apple
Crisp
This would be wonderful hot from the oven and with fresh vanilla ice cream... It also makes a surprisingly good breakfast if you cut down on the butter and sugar slightly! Very warm and comforting. Vegan!

Ingredients: (approximate amounts)

3 - 4 apples
1/2 tsp each cinnamon and nutmeg
a pinch of cloves
1 - 2 Tbsp maple syrup (optional)
3 Tbsp butter or coconut oil
4 Tbsp brown or cane sugar
2 Tbsp flour (whole grain is what I use)
3/4 cup oats

Method:

Preheat oven to 375° F.

Quarter, core, and slice the apples, peeling if desired. Mix with spices and maple syrup (if desired). Place in an 8-inch pan, preferably glass or corningware.

Melt butter in a small pan. Add flour and sugar, until mixed and sizzling, about 1 minute. Add oats, take off the heat, and stir well. Sprinkle evenly over apples.

Bake for 30 - 40 minutes, until apples are soft and topping is golden.

Serves 2 - 4
